SECURITY OPERATIONS MANAGER / CAPTAIN POSITION

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a dynamic Security Operations Manager (SOM) with the rank of Captain to join our team, overseeing security operations from Baltimore, down into the District of Columbia and upwards into Northern Virginia.


This field supervisory role reports directly to the Director of Operations and/or the Chief Operating Officer and is pivotal in providing essential support, conducting personnel training, and ensuring top-notch quality assurance in our security services. This uniformed role carries the rank of Captain and demands exceptional leadership and communication skills to maintain seamless security operations and effective personnel management.


This role is both demanding and fulfilling, offering an opportunity to make a significant impact on operations. You will be at the forefront of ensuring safety, excellence, and customer service, across the entire region. The position requires a proactive approach, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to thrive under pressure. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Estimated 70% field and 30% admin
  2. Act as the Field Supervisor, collaborating with the Chief Operating Officer on all security-related matters.
  3. Lead training initiatives as the Training Instructor/Coordinator to enhance the skills of our field security personnel.
  4. Implement Quality Assurance and Quality Control checks on designated personnel and worksites.
  5. Develop and manage the weekly Operating Schedule, ensuring comprehensive post coverage for security staff.
  6. Oversee timekeeping functions for on-duty personnel, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  7. Offer counseling, guidance, and problem-solving support to security personnel.
  8. Maintain accurate records and prepare timely reports, including daily activity logs and incident documentation.
  9. Conduct regular reviews of Guard Management Systems and relevant CCTV footage.
  10. Enforce company Standards of Conduct and administer disciplinary policies as needed.
  11. Provide orientation for new hires and maintain comprehensive training records.
  12. Follow up on field inspections to ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  13. Ensure 100% staffing; respond to callouts that occur, if Field Supervisor (Lieutenant) isn't able to, which may include identifying other individuals to fill-in and/or standing post until such replacements arrive and also assist Scheduler with scheduling for call-offs or other changes that occur at the site.
  14. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience managing operations with a team of at least 150 employees.
  2. Proven experience in security-related leadership (and/or law enforcement, military, etc), ideally in a multi-shift/multi-site environment.
  3. In-depth knowledge of Performance Work Statements and applicable company policies.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  5. Ability to work independently and adapt to a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and related Mac products.
  7. Ability to multitask and perform under pressure.
  8. Willingness to obtain and maintain relevant certifications and training including Armed Special Police officer commission, Maryland Armed Guard card, and Virginia Armed Security license.
